HIV Scandal Update

Just days ago, I regaled you with a two-part series about six foreign medical workers (five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor) who've been rotting in a Libyan prison for over eight years…

Their "crime" according to Colonel Qaddafi's stooges: Intentionally infecting around 400 Libyan children with HIV.

Of course, these charges are trumped up. Details of the scandal plainly show that these foreign aid workers are being used as scapegoats to hide the horrendous conditions in Libya's hospitals - and to falsely implicate Israel (the charges maintain some absurd conspiracy involving Israeli secret agents), as well as trying to extort $50 million from the dirt-poor Bulgarian government…

As you'll recall from my essay series, over 100 Nobel Laureates have denounced the Libyan government for its actions in this matter. So has the British government, the White House, and just about every other civilized, non-Islamic nation on Earth.

Despite this international pressure, an appeal on these workers' death sentence was upheld by a Libyan court in late December. Lawyers for the condemned six have appealed the decision again. They're now solely at the mercy of the corrupt Libyan courts and their misguided interpretation of Islamic law…

I'll keep you posted on their fate. But it doesn't look good.
